I'm thinking porta power, bodywork hammer (and dollies?), and an inflatable bladder of some sort that won't explode at 120psi like the basketball did and preferably not cost $500. Also a stud gun, but I can just grab one of those at Hobo Freight. The suction cup puller dealy didn't do anything for my quarter panel.

Kinda hand in hand with the hammer and dollies are the spoons.

The biggest question would be what sort of budget, what are you prioritizing (ie if you have certain projects in mind, some things may be more helpful than others to buy first), and what your purpose/plan is.

I’ve used a lot of crap body hammers and dollies over the years, and I won’t use anything but Martin now. They’re gonna be more expensive than the sh*t you find at Harbour Fright, but in this case you get what you pay for. It’ll be obvious the first time you pick up one of their hammers.

Porta-power, meh. Nothing special required there IMO. Not much to really screw up with there. Either it works or it doesn’t. 3-5 ton is plenty for most. If this is to try and move your quarter panel, you can forget the inflatable and stud gun routes. That damage is beyond that.

Come-along and a tree?

How about pics of what you're trying to fix. That would help you get the right recommendation on tools.

I should have prefaced with I'd prefer to be a cheapass because I'm not chasing perfection. For now, good enough is good enough but I figure the more I do this, the better I'll want to be.

I'm not above that.

And also make a good segue into which tools are better suited to what dents.

This is the straw that broke the camel's back right here.
