have you checked the EGR and like I mentioned what condition are the plugs, wires and cap?

i got a new egr valve reman. carb and tune up plus radiator, water pump, fuel pump. it fixed the just shutting off at lights and on the highway but it still idles kinda weird and is hard to start up sometimes

well took it to my mechanic. he said he needed to adjust the carb. he did that and it runs much better. whats does adjusting the carb actually mean? and could it go "out" of adjustment later on and cause these problems again?

He probably just adjusted the idle.

and the idle mixture screws are a common adjustment.
carb's will need adjustment from time to time, it's normal maintnance.
