Car Show Rant

That’s why anymore, I just like the casual cruise-ins. Just “show what you drove.” No trophies, no egos. Sometimes interesting cars show up.
I have been to a lot of car shows with my Monte but I have never entered, signed up or paid for one, for me it's about showing off my work and checking out what others have done.
And I think a lot of car show judges still look at my Monte as being "too new" to be modified to the level I am at, plus I am usually parked next to my buddy's 69' Nova drag car so we draw quite a diverse crowd but the gratification I get from going is when there is a bunch of people standing around my Monte admiring everything I have done and asking questions on how I did things and really that is the only trophy I need.

I pretty much gave up going to shows shortly after the new camaros came out. The guy that won had a camaro that he just literally just picked up and was on his way home from the dealership with it and decided to stop and enter it. And im pretty sure it was only a 6 cyl car too.

here my truck, and people cant believe i won't be painting it.....

I ONLY go to free cruise in nights. If it costs anything to enter, I'm not there. Cruise in nights are what got me into cars. I love going, parking the car, popping the hood, pulling out the fold out chairs and BSing with whoever parks next to me. I walk around and check out the other cars, usually see a lot of the same ones, but that's just what it is. Usually there's a few vendors, you can grab something to eat, sit outside and enjoy the weather and smell the sweet, carcinogenic smell of race gas exhaust fumes. Life doesn't get any better than that for me. It's not a competition, nobody wins anything unless they run a 50/50 raffle.

Now I do get a little annoyed when 1/2 the cars that show up are still under warranty. That's why I don't go to cars and coffee.
