Car Show Rant

CAUTION !! Don't read anymore of my car show success stories.

REALLY disappointed with these statements. You guys ALL have my respect, but you guys sound like a bunch of b*tches. Car shows, Rod Runs, Street Meets, Cruise In's, Power Tour, Cruising the Coast... it's all part of my passion. If you can't support the Promoters, venues, costs involved ( Insurance, printing flyers, websites, security, trophies, giveaways, live entertainment, rentals, etc. ) you need to find another hobby. I can't tell you how many GOOD people I have met at these " paid " events. A few of them are right here on this forum. But then again... I guess I'm just part of a GBodyForum "click", and don't deserve their friendship... I'll start another thread, in a different section, and tell you guys all about my 54th win in a row with my GBody. You ought to be proud... I beat the sh*t out of $150K cars all the time. Guess what??
I disappoint people, too.... There's my car show rant.😛

Um...okay. Not sure if that's a serious post or sarcasm. If pointing out that driving a new Challenger/Mustang/Camaro/Corvette directly from the lot to a car show is pretty pathetic makes me b*tch, I guess I'll be a b*tch. I don't go to shows for trophies or to show off how good I am at writing checks to the dealership. Yet somehow I still get laid. I also think Lamborghinis and Hondas with Lambo doors are lame too. Just my personal taste -- different strokes and such. I go to see the cars and see friends. Some are interesting and some are stupid (the cars and the friends). Approval from the lawn chair crowd means nothing to me.
BTW, nice car. Congrats on #54.

I find them on carcruises.com. There used to be a great weekly one, but they don't do it anymore since they turned the parking lot into an office building and a Chik-Fil-A.

If you are talking about Starlite, they moved it to another church in Wexford

Found the location and website for the replacement

I'll go to a few of the "arm chair national" shows even if the cost is $40-$70 because a lot of them have autocross or other type of competition events which cost the same as going to an SCCA autocross. I'd rather go to a show where the cars doing the autocross are similar old iron and not 25 spec miatas with tire rack decals plastered on the windows or WRX's driven by people who's daily air consumption consists of at least 25% vape.

Although I used to dislike the "73 and earlier only" shows, goodguys bumped it back to 87 finally and I began to understand why. It was oddly better seeing survivor cars and stuff that actually has time put in vs. just purely money. If they bumped it to 2004 or something so people could show off nice terminator cobras, WS6 trans ams or others id be OK with that.

Don't get me wrong, a turbo swapped 5th gen camaro or coyote mustang is cool and I'll look at those during a show, but seeing new stuff still under warranty with nothing done to them diluting the pond gets boring.

BTW, mclellan83...I don't know if you've won any trophies for yours, but it definitely deserves one! 👍🙂
I appreciate it, I have never entered anything to try to win one. I am usually the guy that likes to get to a show early so I am parked without getting attention and can walk around to see everyone elses car.

I admit I would like to enter a Good Guys show or go on a Power Tour one of these days. Just to tick it off the "bucket list." That's about it. Other than that, I think I'd be happy with local or regional cruise-ins.
Def want to hit a Goodguys show next year, always wanted to do the Power Tour as well so I def hear ya
