I have a holley carb and when i adjust the air fuel mix screws all the way in its the idle is supposed to go down but mine goes up when u close them does anybody know what this means?

those are air bleed screws...the more you turn them in your cutting off the air and the richer the idle gets

the ones on the front of the carb? and what is the setting supposed to be?

what model of carb do you have? I had a holley with the reverse idle set up and I got rid of the crab and went back to a q-jet. I forget what I set them at, I think I changed it every day, but you can use a vacuum gauge to help you set them up

Im not sure of the model Im gonna have to get the serial number and look it up I bought it a couple years ago I know its a 700/750 double pumper with manual choke and i just changed the power valve to a 5.5 bc I blew it I dk if that the right size though when I tried to check the vaccumm the needle on the gage kept jumping around

the reason I asked is cause holley put out some carbs that were supposed to be a q-jet replacement and it used the reverse idle meaning the idle mixture screw were actually an airbleed adjustment like yours is. I had one and gave it to a friend of mine after I tried many times to get it to run right. My friend loves holly's and I told him her didn't have to pay me for the carb till he gets is running right....he's an honest guy and he hasn't paid me yet...

lol I like that story is there anyway to find the correct adjustments for it or something close?

I contacted Holley a few times about that carb, they suggested it might need to be rebuilt but when I told them I bought it new and had less than 1000 miles on it they had no suggestions. They were also silent when I suggested I get a refund. I'd take it apart, clean it even thought it didn't need it and put it back together and for about a week it would run good and then it wouldn't idle and run like crap. Online I found out those models had a bunch of complaints and basically were junk, that's when I got rid of it
