I wanted to start this thread to see what kind of performance you guys are getting from carb spacers. On my last intake it was set up for a small Holley SP1 for Big Block Buick. I had the 3" Dominator 4500 to 4150 adaptor spacer and found after that I added a 1" phenolic spacer and it went faster. I bought a Kenne Bell Wildcat, Cool Runner intake and bought a Ta 1" adaptor plate and cut out the opening from a Quad to meet the cloverleaf 4500 mount. Last time I ran the car slowed down with a better intake. I am now adding a 1" penolic spacer to see if it helps. I figure a low compression engine 10 to 1 with a big cam needs all the velocity above the intake to run correctly. Here are some pics. I forgot on this site you have to load your pic backwards to come up the way you want.

I have always used Jomar Performance phenolic spacers I have tried the cloverleaf and open spacers but usually find the 4 hole spacers work best for me and I was also using the Power Cone spacer (similar to a super sucker style) on my 565 before I added a nitrous plate and I no longer had room. I would usually see a stronger signal to the carb with a spacer and sometimes idle quality improved as with the Power Cone. I tend to get a little more RPM with the other styles but more driveability with the 4 hole.
The main reason I run one regardless of style is it does such a great job of isolating the heat from the carburetor so I always run one on a performance engine.
I been to his shop in Pontiac Mi. a few times and he is a great guy and always shows me his latest projects and products when I go there.

Never heard of them but will look them up. Are they on the Net? It's hard to compare Buick to Chevy on the spacer because they will act different for performance.

You got all that power in that Monte?

What have you done to the rear end and what back spacing in the rims?
I nothched the rear frame to fit larger tires and have a standard width Moser 9", that I welded a rear brace, fill cap and drain plug on and it has a Detroit Locker with a 410 gear and Wilwood rear disc brakes.
The rims in my current pictures are 15 x 8.5 Convo Pros with 5" of backspace and right now I have M/T Drag Radials 295/55R15
My new rims (not in any of my pictures yet) are 15 x 9.5 Convo Telstars with 5.75 backspace and I am using the tires off my Convo Pros.
