Cascade as radiator flush?

Greetings Guys;
i put distilled water in mine ALWAYS, a old man told me this trick with distilled water long time ago. who needs all that hard water crap in your power plant {QUOTE]
If you are from the Mid West or any other area that has Hard (lime) water this is a MUST if you want your system to last! I try to flush the system twice with de-mineralizaed - distilled water, that way if I didn't get a 100% of the pervious mix drained it would certainly be very diluted. De mineralized water is even better, but distilled is a OK second choice. Never tap water if you are keeping the vehicle. Oh I'll only admit to LMA (Late Middle Aged), Bob Jr.

Here's another unexpected bonus. This Jeep always runs at 210 degrees even in cold weather. I'm seeing it now sit at the proper 195 degrees. It looks as if the Cascade did an amazing job. I will update as the weather warms up.

Well as long as you use jet dry afterwords I'm sure you'll be fine plus no water spots. :rofl: $139.00 rads if I was truely concerned Id rather spend a couple bucks on the rad new hoses. And run it for 10 mins with the garden hose flush. Rather risking a blockage in the heater core or water jacket.

With my old Jeep, 94 version with a 4.0 I cleaned the heater core with straight white vinegar and that cleaned out the build up and gave me heat. I just held up the hoses and let it soak for about 20 minutes

What I will rave about is the state of the inside of the block. With the pump off I siphoned out the remaining water and wow is she clean inside. Looks like I hot tanked it.

How much Cascade did you use? How much do you have to flush the motor and radiator to get the Cascade out?

I used about a cup, dissolved in a pot of almost boiling water, further diluted in a bucket of hot water. Poured it in and filled with plain water and after running the motor about a half an hour, I cooled it down then drained it. Then I flushed with a garden hose and there was no soapy residue. It came out very clean but I drained and backflushed as well as I could several times just to be safe.Then I refilled with plain water and got the motor hot again, cooled off, flushed some more. Looking into the pump cavity I have to say there is no dirt left inside. I put the hose on both heater core hoses and it flowed great each way.
