Chainsaw Guys

Buy once, cry once
I had a 40 foot sweet gum block most of my drive yesterday morning. Luckily I was able to clear enough to get out of drive. Son and I made short work of it last evening with my husky

I have the farm boss. The power in that saw makes cutting very easy. Do not get the low kickback chains. They cut to slow. Sounds like you have cut enough, you can skip them.

The 250 runs the same .325 chain that the 270 does. So for a little less umpf, you can save some money and get the 250.

You stated in the start of this thread your only going to cut afew here an there.

So here is my thought. Buy one with a long warranty! Why, cause your not using the saw all the time.

Second, don't buy a big heavy saw. Why cause your not using it every day an it's hard for the body to adjust in 30 minutes to slinging a saw. Half day you'll be exhausted which makes for careless.

As l stated before the 038 is a nice size, enough size to cut hardwood an not super heavy.

Just be careful, it only takes a second for a saw to get you an l have 3 scars, 3 different times to prove it, foot, knee an hand.

Slow on the learning curve, huh?

We used stihl only at my old job (landscape construction/tree service) and never had an issue with them, our most used saw was a stihl 025 with a 16” bar and it’s just about the perfect size for most jobs

Thanks for all the replies. It's hard to get decent reviews online, everyone is a fanboy when it comes to chainsaws and they all have their favorite orange saw brand. I'm gonna buy a saw tomorrow, still not sure which one, but I'm gonna take a look at the Husqvarna 450 Rancher at Lowe's as well as the Stihl and Echos. The Husky dealer network around here sucks, but if it's a better saw, I'll go for it.

Not speaking from experience, just seen this topic online a couple times but if you already have a brand of cordless tools (IE Dewalt or Milwaukee), the battery powered options i've heard are decent for small jobs and you dont have to worry about the maintenance of a gas saw.

There are some people who are too dangerous to themselves and others. My dad was a logger for long time working in the Northern Cascades of Washington State. We have fallen trees up to 8 feet through. I have learned a lot from him .And have used used a variety of saws .My brother still does it and he uses Stihl saws with a variety of bar sizes,
