I've been thinking about changing my distributor over to a vacuum advance HEI (non-computer controlled) but I'm not sure in the steps to switch over from the factory distributor. My car has been switched from the 307 to an olds 350 with Edelbrock intake and carb. Right now, the distributor has a 4 connector plug that is connected to a plug that runs to the passenger side underneath the HVAC system.
My question is, can I yank the current distributor and install an HEI distributor (Summit Racing HEI Distributor)? If so, what steps should I take to make this conversion as trouble-free and easy as possible?
EDIT: Not using AC or cruise control.
