Cheating The Reaper

12 years plus whatever intervening reality throws my way. Still - your posts with pictures show me the kind of work I'd love to be doing. I'm doing some now - but garage days are few and far between.

Finally ready for primer.
I lied. Still needed a few more hours. Then it got moved out of the booth so my brother could paint a BMW motorcycle. But then something happened...

I know it was all black before but this time it's the actual chassis paint. It's not quite done yet but getting closer.

Last coat went on at 6:30 this morning. Should be able to move it to the other shop later tonight for assembly.

Thanks. I'm a little behind schedule but really excited to get back to it.

Frame got moved back to the shop for assembly but sat there untouched for a couple weeks.

Started by hanging the pedal assembly and related pieces.

Cleaned and painted all the front suspension parts before fitting then refitting. Just like on TV, nothing fits the same after it comes back from the paint shop. Still need to buy some hardware before I install the sway bar.

Set it on the ground and dropped the engine and temporary transmission in place.

Have family coming in to town this weekend so I'm not sure how soon I'll get to the rear suspension.

Just placed an order for bed parts. Not the whole thing, but most of it.

Car boner over here!

Just got done talking to my dad. He's coming in to town next week to help (prod) my brother on my pickup. This is a good thing. He is an excellent catalyst and things seem to always progress rapidly when he gets involved. Things are looking up for next week. Stay tuned or progress reports. Hell, I might even get dusty.

PS: He was in Salem last week and started prodding my uncle to get ready for the Pendleton show in June. There's a better than even chance that we'll have 2 '35s and 2 '36s lined up next year. Considering the family history, that would be beyond cool. My uncle's '35 has been in the family since '56(?) and lived in Pendleton until the mid '70s. My brother's (formally our dad's) '36 spent decades in Pendleton. My '35 was my main transportation while I lived and worked there for 5 years. These trucks have roots.
