whats the difference besides price!?! (and the 100 rpm stall difference)

i'm looking into a new converter because i just swapped to a th350, and its acting up a little. fluid is new and at correct level, vacuum modulator is new, new fiter, th400 torque converter. When i take off from a stop, its like im barely on the pedal, and it accelerates like that no matter how much im on it. i'm thinking thats because of the converter being from a th400... maybe...

After its up to speed it shifts good for the most part. i was messing with the vacuum modulator to get it to shift at a lower rpm (turning it clockwise (is this correct?)) its pretty good normal driving, but once you get in it, it shifts at higher rpms.

also the kickdown is delayed, its set to start putting tension on at like 1/2 throttle. 3/4 was pretty much the same.

I have no expierence with transmissions, so any input to help me work out the bugs is greatly appreciated!

Sounds like the Kickdown cable is out of adjustment causing full throttle shifts (high shift points. If you can find someone who knows how to adjust it. See if have good vacuum at the modulator. Maybe you getting ported vacuum and you need manifold vacuum or vice cersa...

modulator is good for sure. its on carb vac. right now, maybe ill change it and see if that makes a difference.

i think i have a guy who can look it over for me.

any other suggestions?

I run my modulator on a full maniflod vac port (not on carb), have you tried disconnecting your cable, th350's aren't finicky like 2004r's, it won't kill it, but it will not downshift when you mash the gas. The way you adjust them if you want to keep it though, with the car off, look at your cable where the bracket holds it by the carb, there should be tabs that release tension to it, open up WOT position, hold it at WOT and press tabs back down on cable. It's that simple.

I wouldn't go putting a new converter behind a transmission you don't know much about. A rebuild kit for one of these is relitively cheap ($100 ish), and it is fairly easy to do. So for around 200-300 bucks you can have a rebuilt transmission with a new (reman) converter.
