Chinese Junk

Well, quality is the way to go. Sure it is wonderful to spout patriotic vitriol about buying only from your own country, but you have to realize that the majority of consumers will not ever follow suit. That is why I advocate quality products over nationalism. Some Chinese stuff is OK for some uses, but it does not always represent the best overall value. Buying American for the sake of doing so only allows manufacturers to be lazy because they do not need to worry about competition. Buying American because it is the best product gives you the best value. It ensures that corporations do not become complacent. I buy products from a lot of different places, including China. This is because the economic realities of life mean you need to weigh quality versus intended use versus price in order to have the best lifestyle for the income you make.

the issue is well known brand names are having their products made in China but are not reducing the price.....the MSD coil that used to made in the US is now made in China but the price has not been reduced....

and as far as quality vs price we all know that quality usually comes out to be less expensive in the long run.....

BTW how are you making out with all the things you were planning to do?

I bought a set of made in China Valucraft brake pads for my Malibu wagon just before I planned to sell it just to say it had new brakes up front. Well, I go to put the pad in caliper and BING the holder spring just pops right off the rivet. I shake my head thinking so much for trying to get away with cheap, I would never want these things on a car I drive. I took them back and put on a set of USA made Raybestos they had. The Chinese suppliers only make the parts to specifications given to them. If whoever is ordering it only specifies "as cheap as possible to make it fit and work for a short period of time," then that is what they get from China. Better high end names who have their parts built by suppliers in the USA do so to have the ability to easily visit the factories and have tighter quality control over what they get. In other words unless they do so, they might get lackluster quality from the USA supplier too. The country of orgin or assembly doesn't always dictate the quality of what you get, it's something that starts at the top and has to follow through to the end product.

Not so well. I have fallen into a serious depression and can't really do anything right now. I just don't see any point to it anymore.

I just replaced my busted shifter cable with a cable that's made in the US by Pioneer Inc. 😀

dont forget about canada, we still make good products here

I don't forget about Canada but the number of aftermarket products that are made here are very limited. If you know of any please post their names so that we can purchase their products. If their products are not displayed in local stores we can make the stores aware of them and order the parts from that particular store....
