Classic car insurance

I have State Farm insurance on my 87 442, all stock. Classic car insurance it's not a high dollar car, my insurance is $37 for 6 months, full coverage value I listed was $5000. My brothers Vette is less than $100 per year with State Farm.

I've come to realize that all of the great classic car insurance quotes seem to be for stock vehicles. I know if I had stated that mine was stock it would have been around $100-$200 per year. But since it's modified it jumped it to $862 per year.

In the grand scheme of things that's still not too bad. It works out to roughly $71 per month. That's only $3 more per month than my daily driver.

I've had Hagerty for my current malibu and a couple of others for the last 7 years without an issue. Also had a 65 chevelle covered with them 12 years ago. About 2 months ago I had my car out of the garage and park in front of the house for a couple of days for some repair on the garage. Someone hit my quarter panel while I was at work so I called in a claim. It was Thursday night, the adjuster was here on Monday and by Saturday I received a check. The whole process went quickly and smooth which surprise me as it was my first claim with them. A couple of weeks ago they sent a letter saying that they needed pictures of the car in the garage and a signed statement providing the address where the car is kept or they would cancel my policy. I guess they thought I was not parking in the garage at all.

They dropped my agreed value on mine to $20K which is their cap for modified vehicles without receipts or an appraisal. I figured that was likely considering I wanted an agreed value closer to $35K.
Not a huge deal at the moment. I plan to have the car appraised once it's finished so I can get it closer to the number I think it's worth.

I have had Leland West for about 4 years now and one of my friends has a 69' Nova with a 598 BBC with nitrous and he has had them about 6 years now.
I looked around at the big names for classic insurance but since my car is highly modified along with having nitrous installed made it tougher to find someone
that would actually insure me.
So I ended up going with Leland West, I have an agreed value of $35,000 which has stayed the same since the beginning and also I have the buyback option since
most of my money is in the drivetrain I wanted this included in my policy.
I did not get an appraisal but I did have to send them a crapload of pictures including my car in my garage and my classic license plate and odometer.
I sent them copies of receipts for major parts and had to do an extremely detailed breakdown on the work and parts installed.
Also I sent them details about the garage like no windows, steel man door with commercial grade deadbolt along with hardwired and wireless alarm systems.
I think any detail you can give them that makes them feel your car is secure in your garage helps, I probably even told them I live on a dead end street and we have a
neighborhood watch.
I pay under $500 for the year but I also have an absolutely flawless driving record.

I know driving restrictions apply. Hagerty from what I have seen has some strict driving restrictions. I like to drive a day or to more than just car shows or weekend cruises. Do any of the other insurance companies have a little more freedom other than show or weekend driving.

Hagerty doesnt have very strict rules. Must be garaged and be used for pleasure only. It depends what coverage you have.

Hagerty didn't have any driving restrictions. I told them what I planned to do with the vehicle (shows, events, pleasure driving, driving to work less than 20 times per year) and the mileage I expected to put on the car (2,500) each year. That 2,500 miles would be a stretch for a car that is only driven in nice weather during the summer.

I have state farm classic car insurance and only pay
under 100.00 every six months cars covered for 20,000
and I can drive it up 5000 miles per summer? Check into it
I thought they were going to be high but they weren't at all
