hey guys i was wondering what do you's guys do to clean ur block before painting it and dressing it up?? what methods do you use and products to get that caked on grease and stuff off??? i know i been using a small brissle brush and cans of degreeser and a rag, but it doesnt seem to be getting me far lol :?
Is it a bare block? Drop it off at a machine shop and have it cleaned there. If its together or you dont want to do that all I can recommend is mineral spirits, scraper, scotchbrite pad and a lot of scrubbing.

If you live near a truck wash (big rigs), they usually have good de-greasers. I used to manage one and lots of car guy came there to wash old caked up car parts. Plus the truck washes have more psi than regular car ones.
Drill and a hard wire wheel, i just had to do the same thing and took a couple hours. that engine enamel is no joke, very hard to get off or you can get it sandblasted.
