Cold War Kids

Thats why there are so many 60s-70s stations on radio today. Modern stuff is just noise set to noise

Music with staying power is obviously timeless. The 90s delivered some pretty good music (rock and rap) before autotune became a thing and ruined the industry. I almost cried when "my music" showed up on the classic rock station.

This one came right near the end of the Cold War.

I prefer a mix of older music. By the time you left the 80s, well, I started not to pay attention to what was "new". Maybe a few groups that had an older sound to them.

That said, there's only one reason there's so many 60s-70s geared stations. A huge cohort of baby boomers.

I remember when there were 2 or 3 "oldies stations" that played a heavy dose of music from the 50s, and when your lower bands of fm had a bunch of big band era and the like, not mumble rappers.

I expect classic rock to have some staying power, but I also expect it to start to decline.

As for bookends of the cold war:

1991 personified.

I never really appreciated early Metallica until I got into my 30s. Sure they stumbled placating to the machine later on. But, they've definitely recovered as of late.

But, those early records are brilliant.
