ok, well i replaced the pcv valve, no resalts, still smoking out the oil filler neck and if you pull the air cleaner lid off while running it smokes in there was well (from the pcv and breather and what not in there). i seafoamed it, little in the crank case, the rest sucked thru the pcv hose. letting it sit for a bit now and seeing if it loosened anything up if anything is sticking, if no changes happen im going to then drain a quart of oil out and then add some lucas, then run it for a bit and then see what happens, if no change, im going to pull the engine and do a rebuild, new rings bearings seals and alll that good stuff. in the mean time i will pull the trans and go thru that since it will all be out. it runs good right now i dont think anything too terrible is going on. but who knows ill give some time for my miracle fixes to work (which i dont have much faith in) ill do a compression test later this weekend or next week and let you know the resaults

i did all that seafoaming and lucas and what nots, my compression stayed about the same, i put oil in the worst cylinder and compression tested it, it stayed the same, so im going to get my hands on a leakdown tester and give that a try sometime some day. im hoping its head related i dont feel like pulling the engine but if i have to i have to i suppose plus if its a cracked head or something i got a set of spare heads

looks like every v8 GM motor I have owned. And they will keep running like that for many many years.

Time to pull the heads and see whats happening in the head on in the cyl. Even with such low miles there is a lot of dry starts in the last 20+ years on the motor.

Whats the oil consumption like ??

heres an update on my car. well the blow by is getting worse, shes gettin parked for the season, got a new set of rings and a full gasket kit in the mail. one question, should i replace the head bolts when i pull the heads?

I've never replaced head bolts, for just a rering on a stock engine I wouldn't worry about it. I would measure the bores for taper as well, if taper is too high it could cause issues with ring seal down the road. I usually use the service manuals as a general guide if you don't know what taper is acceptable. I'd say .001"-.003" is typical, more than that you might want to talk to a competent machine shop to see what they think (one shop does not = another!!!).

The heads bolts are not torque to yield heads bolts so when they are removed they return to their original length and can be reused several times. If they were over torqued tho then they are junk

x2 on doobers suggestion for checking the bores
