compressor wiring

quick question for any who have installed gm serpentine system. with newer version of stock compressor like what comes in kit. the connector for compressor is different than stock in our cars. question is there is a diode a believe under tape on factory connector. do i need to install one on new connector?

I think I have a diode on mine I robbed the compressor off a 93 suburban and pigtail when I decide to put pants back on I’ll walk back out to my shop snap a pic of the wiring

I was wrong I don’t have one there and that’s a important piece so when you shut the compressor off the energy left in the coil can’t back feed or cause spikes when turned on I’ll check into it more maybe it’s built into the newer style coil

I was trying to look at schematic for 92 camaro to see if it was installed elsewhere in the system but cant find much

So this is a diagram of what I pulled my compressor off from and the diode is there so I’m not sure where it went on my car because I know it’s supposed to be there and ied be surprised if I forgot that look in the top left corner and it shows how to wire it in or un tape yours and hook it up the same way

Ya I’m surprised I haven’t had a coil fail from this yet

I have a factory manual for that car I’ll look in it tomorrow but do what Fleming says to install it and it is important

Clamping diode to stop spike discharge when clutch disengagings
