old cam specs vs new cam specs... same with the pistons... did you re-use all the old accessories? water pump, alternator, power steering? only reason i ask is cause i know when my brother blew the water pump in his chevelle he didnt have funds at the time to buy a good one so he bought a cheap one and the drag the cheap one caused slowed him down by a whole second... 6 passes, all a full second slower... two weeks later he did nothing but change to a better pump and shaved that second right back off...
dont have specs on old cam will get specs on new cam and pistons old were small dome new ones are 3.5 cc dome and block decked and shaved 12 thousands off head to give compression ratio of 10 to 1 and all is the same as last yr accessories
Perhaps the combination of timing, compression and octane is causing detonation? Maybe the converter isn't a good match for the cam? Was the cam degreed during installation? Can be a lot of things.
Where is most of the performance being lost? 60' times? 1/8 mile times? 1/4 mile trap speeds?
