i changed the governor so it will shift higher its now at 4500 was 3200 will see how that does this weekend any other suggestions??? thanks

I'd go back and degree the cam.

raced car tonite ran 15.20-43 shifting @4300 any other suggestions on what else to try and if degree cam what would that tell me????

heres the thing, it could be a million diff reasons why the times slowed... but the fact that you do not have or know your old cam specs vs new cam specs, or old piston specs vs new piston specs, i'm gonna jump out the window and say the new cam and pistons are milder than the old ones... but, its just a guess...

What heads maybe they dont flow what cam needs. Maybe you need a bigger stall to make the cam work like it should.

Why are you shifting so low? I would run it up to 5000 rpm for shifts. I run around that time and my car is slower than it should be.

Shifting at 4300 is way too early. Manually shift the trans, don't put it in drive and let it do its own shifting. Ya don't need to degree the cam, as long as u set it straight up at true top dead center. What r the specs on the cam and what intake r ya runnin? U should be able to shift that at the least 5500.

Ditch the 600 vacuum sec Carb
Ditch the performer intake (nothing more then weight savings over stock intake)
Install 750 DP
Install performer RPM intake
Set initial timing at 16*, total at 36*, all in by 3000
Long tube headers are a must.
Without rereading this I going to assume stock smogger heads. Your giving up a world right there.
That cam likes a 2500 stall.
Even with smogger heads these changes alone and shifting the thing at 5500ish should put you solidly in the low 14's high 13's with traction.
