I've been wanting to replace my old low amp 10si alternator for a later, higher(105) amp CS style unit. If I pull a junkyard unit, what model GM cars have alternators with proper compatible clocking to fit a V-belt small block chevy? I believe it would be a 12-6 mounting. Thanks.

I've pulled a couple CS130s from FWD cars with the Series II 3800 motor - mainly the H-body cars like the Olds 88, Bonneville, etc. These have the correct 12:00/6:00 clocking on the lugs. Check the amperage, as I have seen both 85A and 105A on these cars. The serpentine pulley is easily swapped for a V-belt pulley if you need that.

And these alternators can be bumped up to 130amp as i have done to mine, good luck!

Thank you Joe,
That's exactly the info that I was looking for. I assume that the amps designation is stamped somewhere on the alternator body? I do plan on replacing the serpentine pulley with a V-belt pulley.

How were you able to achieve this? Not that I would need anything more than 105A.

Well if you have a kickin stereo system you definitely need it, by changing the rectifier, regulator, and stator and brushes you can achieve 200 or even 300amps if you want.

i believe youre gonna need a wire adapter

You can get the adapter from NAPA. Note that there are two versions, one for itiot light and one for gauges that has a resistor built in. You can also simply cut the connector at the wrecking yard and splice it into your harness. The amperage rating is stamped on the CS130 housing.
