My Hypertech cooling fan switch doesn't work anymore, tested it in boiling water with an ohm meter and ground the wire in the car going to the switch turns the fans on. The is the 2nd Hypertech switch to go in 3 summers and here in Canada they are over $70 so I'm I'm looking for an alternative. The Grand National switch (204 on 185 off) is in the heat range I am looking for but no one has it, some don't even list it and one is asking for $110 for it but they have to order it in to see if it is available. Can any of you guys give me an alternative part number for the switch?..I have looked at the adjustable switches but I'd rather keep it simple without adding more wires. Thanks

Delco #D1882D
Standard Motor #TS136
Any of the better parts chains should be able to get either one. Rockauto lists four different manufacturers from $30 -$40.

thanks, the TS136 is a little warmer than I want to go and the Delco is the one I was looking that no one has. The problem trying to find a switch is as you all know the "parts guys" need the vehicle and details instead of a product part number.

Then ask the "Parts guy" for a radiator fan switch from a 1986 or 1987 Buick Regal w/ 3.8 turbocharged engine. or 1989 Pontiac Firebird w/ 3.8 turbocharged engine

I did and like I posted none of them have it except one who could possibly get it for $110

I just use a $15 adjustable radiator probe switch controlling a 40 amp relay, but I may just use one of these, seems easier.

The 3.8 Turbo Coolant temp switch is P/N: 25036371

Lots of them on Ebay.

I have been through sooo many thermal fan switches that it's ridiculous. My issue is that the on temp is too high or the off is too low. With all the money spent I could have bought a top of the line PWM switch from Dakota Digital. Remember, I live way south in New Orleans where it's almost 90* today in October.
But a couple options are the switch for a 1984 camaro. Or try this place www.hollisterroad.com/proddetail.php?prod=CFS185F
Good luck

I have had a few fail as well, multiple brands. Manual override is necessary with some of the junk switches and controllers out there. I just bought the Flexalite adjustable controller with the push in probe and built in relay. Tested it, worked. Blew off the belts, fan didn't come one. Good part is it has a manual override switch. I am hooking up a toggle switch off that manual input to key on power. I can also get a replacement board, I will get it to carry along, just in case.
