Balance. As it should be.

Mike, that just looks badass man!!! Great work!

Thanks! Unfortunately progress is going to slow for a while now that I am back to work (being driven in right now) - so I am going back to planning and squirrelling away parts for the next push. The goal is still to have it running/driving for Spring.

So obviously one of the big things for me with cars is tire and wheel selection as it pretty much sets the attitude for the car, and if you get it wrong your car looks like crap; and as we all know I LOVE to push the boundaries of what is considered "possible" for tire and wheel fitment.

I want 17 inch wheels. I want a wide tire on the rear of this car. I want a really tall sidewall. It has to be a radial. And I want it tucked inside the wheel arches. Is that too much to ask?

So up until now the tire I was chasing is the M&H 390/40R17 (http://www.mandhtires.com/390-40R17), but I recently discovered that M/T makes a 315/50R17 (http://www.mickeythompsontires.com/drag-tires/et-street-r). They are both 29.5" tall, but the ability to tuck the 315s is way easier as the approved measured rim width is 8.5-11" vs. 12" for the 390s. The benefit of this is that I can just do a partial frame notch and not have to add 3" to the wheels (only about 2", which will cost less)... and the M/Ts are cheaper. Anyway, that effort is a ways out.

The thing is about the only folks running this tire are the Hellkitty and Demon crowd - and the lengths these guys go to for modifying their cars to fit them (the standard non-widebody Hellcats, especially) is horrible. The fun starts around page 4: https://www.hellcat.org/threads/new-315-mickey.213391/ Grinder and paint makes me the welder I ain't. Yikes. I am going to have to be real careful if I go after one of those cars on the used market.

First let me say **** UPS. Their fee schedules for customs is unethical - $18 package gets you slammed with a $15 COD charge at the door. WTF?

So when I opened my $18 package (really $180 worth of kit - the seller marks down the package value) last night, at 2300hrs when I got home from work (because don't become a professional anything), I found it packed full of -10 AN line and fittings. Yippie! This means that I can now finish plumbing the oil and fuel system.

Now here's the thing that got me: Out of curiosity I decided to look at the construction of the stainless steel braided line (it is China sourced from a reputable eBay seller I use quite often). It looked properly cheap: just braided loom over a relatively thin rubber membrane. So I went out to the garage to check the -6 AN line I had left over from previous projects (Vibrant and Summit) and recent purchases (China). Vibrant's nylon braided line looked the same, and so did Summit's braided S/S line. Go figure - it probably came from the same factory (Vibrant's stuff comes from China, but are based in Canada packaging and distribution).

Funny you mention that Mike. I just bought 20 feet of -6 braided line a couple weeks ago from a reputable ebay seller as well. Alot of the reviews I read stated how similar the line was compared to Summit, Aeroquip, etc.
Sure enough, that sh*t looks identical, but I got a 20' roll for $25 instead of the usual $100ish.
