core support questions

I've got an aluminum core support from a '78 Grand Am that I parted out. It came without the usual letter "A" on its top, it had an aluminum "X" brace, and the rare 46 inch long chin spoiler. FWIW, the '78 Grand Am (which was rusted beyond repair) was an option loaded car.

i swapped in a earlier 80 A body aluminum core support into my 85 GP

Which vehicles / years are most likely to have aluminum core supports? I've been looking for a while now and haven't had any luck. How many were produced?

Don't know how many were produced but i've only ran across 3 or 4 in the last 12+ years... So they are pretty rare :shock: I've only seen them in 78-80 Pontiacs though.. Lemans, Grand Am's and GP's. There is a member here who recently posted one for 275 if i remember correctly. 8)

So yours came without the "A" on it? The ones i pulled had the "A" on them but no "x" braces..hmmmm :? I did pull the chin spoiler but it was broken on one end so i ended up using the stock one. wonder why they used different chin spoilers?? :|
