Coupe windshield interchange

I am replacing the front window on my 86 2+2 GP. Everyone was out of stock on it according to the glass shop.

Local salvage yard had a new 85 (listed as) monte carlo front windshield so I bought it.

Is there something special with an 86 glass vs an 78-85? Rock auto lists it as a different part number from 78-85 to 86/87. I was always under the impression that 2dr 78-88 is the same and 78-83ish 4dr are the same.

Is this one of those bogus "a supreme is not the same as a cutlass" rumors that is out there?

The only differences is the '78-'81 with embedded antenna & the header tint (lighter or darker).

Ok cool thanks. Thats what I thought that they were the same. Don't know why the part #'s are different.
