I have a question for you guys. I have a chance, through a parts trade, to get a Crane Energizer Cam and Lifter Kit #100052. Is this a good fit for my 68 327 (basically stock) in my 79 by wagon? It's just so slow!! Need more power, and a posi, and another gear, etc... But this is basically free.

The specs are .454" lift and 272 duration. I'm not a Chevy expert but I think it will be a bit grumbly in a small 327, and definitely you will need some gears out back to take full advantage. For free I'd say "YES"!!

With out knowing which 327 you have, gears ,exh I'm going to say it will hurt your bottom end. Sounds like a good cam pick up when you do upgrade.

Not a bad cam for a 327. If your car feels slow now, it's likely more of a gearing problem than anything else. Cam swap won't likely make it any better. IMO regearing should be at the top of any Gbody owner's list. Far and away the best bang for the buck.

It has a th350 with a open mcss 3.73 rear in it. Not sure how I can more the gearing around to make any huge different. I am planning on a 700r4 swap after tax time. I figure that od transmission with 3.73 rear should hit the sweet spot. Correct me if I'm wrong. I'm def not looking to lift wheels, but just some more balls...

I agree that it has plenty of gear for that cam. I would definitely look into putting an OD trans in the car and maybe a slightly higher stall convertor in the 1800-2200 rpm range.

Longroof, I was gonna go about 2k stall... So dead on. Think it'll be a nice cruiser... If I didn't meantion earlier, I'm gonna mini spool it, I think.

I wouldn't recommend the mini spool or any spool for a street driven car. I think you'd regret that decision.

I'd love to do the Power Tour this year, but I would also need to go overdrive, do a gear change, and get my A/C back in order. The expense would be another factor...but as they say, never say never...

I think going with a 2000 stall convertor is a good choice.
