Agreed.. ppl ask way too much for stuff.but then again here in western ny its near impossible to find a halfway solid gbody..or anything older than ten years for that matter. all of you that live down south should consider yourselves lucky when it comes to finding gbodys.. :wtf:

The carb alone for that engine is over $300.00

I'm not trying to flame you over your post, but where do you get $300 from? If that's a stock carb I assume it's a dualjet? Is that a retail price?

I'm not directing this at you, but there's a big blur between understanding retail, used and depreciation from what I've been seeing. I see people selling used wheels & tires that try to get what they paid for them 3 years ago

Or what really gets me is this one, "EASY FIX!" Then fix the damn thing if it's so easy!
Or how about this one, "Engine ran great when pulled 10 years ago."

I guess I should have been more specific. If you had to to to Oreilly and buy the carb rebuilt, it alone is over $300.00 plus a core and they go up from there. Yes it is used but with 26000 miles I was making a point that I sold the entire engine with all of the accessories for less thatn you would have to pay for a rebuilt carb. I just didn't need the V6 with a V8 in the works.

The overpriced cars/parts will always be out there. Just need to weed through the garbage to get into the realists that ask a fair price. IMO the scammers are worse. I put my 355 on CL for $1500 and after about an hour received about 4-5 scammer emails and texts. Worthless..

This is not pointed at the OP in any regard. Do others receive more low ballers now then interested parties?
Rant over, please continue.

You aren't wrong, I USED to sell a lot on Craig's list , then it just dried up. I always asked a fair price, with a little extra to let myself get nibbled down to where the buyer thought he was getting over on me. But now I can't sell anything, and like you said, prices went through the roof. My Daughter needs a car, but even clunkers with over 100K are way overpriced. It's ridiculous, and worse, with Hurricane Sandy flooding thousands of cars, I don't trust anything within 100 miles of the East Coast!

Part of the problem is that people still think you can buy a decent driving car for $500. With scrap the way it's been, they'll bring close to that with minimal prep work. I always laugh at the CL ads that are looking for a dependable car with working A/C for 200-300 dollars...might be able to go 400

Kinda reminds me of the guys that bought 32 fords for $50-100 in high school in the 60s and think everybody is nuts for asking what they bring now.

Parts prices...people are nuts. Just because it's old doesn't make it worth a ton of cash. I've probably tossed better parts than the majority of what I see offered on CL or ebay these days. The flip side is the dreamers...that want a 454BBC core for $50.."cause I'm gonna have to go through it anyway" No sh*t, that's why it's a core.
