Those are some sweet ideas I literally was sitting in my car looking around trying to think of places to stuff speakers and came up blank. Question though how does it sound in those locations or even the stock locations? I joined a car audio forum and they're being really snobby about it lol. They say our cars have a horrible soundstage and that the kicker speakers I suggested are junk that 3.5's or 6x9's would be completely useless. Also they don't know of any quality head units for 200 bucks or less. I mean these guys are nuts. Wtf I just want a decent sounding stereo not a high tech perfectly engineered soundstage lol. :blam:

Are you guys running amps or are you right off the head unit?

Yeah most of the guys on there make it hard to ask beginner questions, I'm not on there too much unless I have a question. Ideally you don't want a 6x9 speakers, because its hard for an oblong speaker to produce bass and clean sound. But I say screw it, if it has decent review online, and it is within your price range go for it. If you take your time and don't skimp out on the wire and electrical system you should be good to go. As for my system, it's sounds pretty decent, I just need a little bit more rear fill which is hat I am working on right now. Also a new 4 channel, as the one I have is pretty old, and dated as far as adjustments go. Right now I am running the 6.5" and 6x9 on the 4 channel and the 3.5"s on th head unit, I think they are only like 25 RMS. just build with what you can afford and what you have, and do it right. As far as your choice on speakers, I running all clarion which I was nervous about at first. But it sounds surprisingly good. Brands like alpine and precison power are good entry level stuff too.

Any recommendations for speakers or head unit? I've been looking at the brands I've had luck with in the past and can build a pretty similar set up with each brand for around 1100-1500 bucks that's including head unit interior speakers amp subs pretty much everything but the box and wiring. The brands I've been considering are kicker Alpine and soundstream. I understand kicker and Alpine aren't top notch but I've used both with success as in they sounded good and lasted through my thorough beatings. Soundstream I used to have reference amps and a pretty high end set up back in like 04 or something. I know they dropped off the planet for a while but I've been hearing good things as they're trying to bring their quality back to the old days standards. Plus soundstream is priced very nice. I'm considering giving them another shot.

I have a very mixed set up in my car but it sounds perfectly fine.

I am using a stock head unit because I really don't like the look of a single din stereo in the stock din-1/2 opening. I just added an MP3 audio jack so that I can use my smartphone to play music.

I am not running any front dash speakers or rear deck speakers at the moment. In each door I have:

Front speakers:

JL Audio 6.5" woofer (1 per door)
MB Quart 4" mid-base (1 per door)
Pioneer 1" tweeter (1 per door)

Rear speakers:

MB Quart 5.25" biaxial (1 per door)

Kenwood 12"single voice coil 1200w peak

Amps:

(2) JBL P80.2 2 channel amp for front and rear speakers
(1) JBL P600.1 mono amplifier

Door panel mocked into place:

Amp board in the trunk. The 12" sub and box are behind the amp board facing the rear seat.

FE3X,

I love your lower door panels.. They're like CS V3 since they have midbass/midrange/highs in the front & a coaxial for midrange & highs in the rear.. My question is, are those custom/1 off panels or did you order those from someone? I'd much rather go that route that bother with kick panels that get stepped on, horns that interfere with pedals or concert sound that sound decent but still lacking as far as mid-bass goes..

I think what I'm going to do for now is replace the stock stereo/speakers do my subs and then when everything is in place and working I'll start toying with custom door panels n such. To be honest I wanna keep the car as stock looking as possible. I'm planning a daily driven sleeper with this thing. It should be pretty awesome when complete.

The panels I have were custom made that I bought off someone. But I was thinking there were a few companies out there now that make something similar with just the front speakers?

That's awesome. I might have to grab them I wonder how hard it would be to Mount components in there.

I've seen those before but never really paid attention to'em.. That'll be a great upgrade to the CS in my Type-T.. As for mounting tweeters from a comp set, the flat area in front of the arm rest looks good.. That's a bit of a gap between the speakers so it might distort the imaging but it'll be minimal..
