Try searching for Cowles S37740 1/4" x 20' of universal molding. Great substitution for the factory chrome stuff. Has 3M mounting tape, just like the GM junk.

Probably need a couple of packages minimum to do the entire car.

Cowles S37522 1/4" x 20' of universal molding is the same except in black.

I believe those are GM part number 22506630.
That is correct. That is the last combined part number. It's listed for front bumper, but later on it became the p/n for the rear as well since it's the same size and the original rears went disco'ed.

In the early years, the rear bumper ones had little metal bendy tabs on them to "clip" them in place and came as a separate pieces, 4 needed per rear bumper. Like these right here. GM p/n 225006627.

Shoot. Here I was thinking it was 1/4”. That’s what I get for thinking without a license. I got like 6 boxes of the GM stuff left so I don’t have any aftermarket ones.

Good catch

Forget what I said. I’m talking outta my azz.

Cowles website says

3/8 x 20 is p/n 37-630

The 3/8 x 50 is p/n 37-650

In case you need it.

Blast from the past, even if it was only 2020. My brain was STILL working stupid back then as well. Almost the exact same thread as this one. And the same stupid answers I gave back then...yikes. Don't get old, kids.

Personally, I'd get the 50' roll if I were doing it.

Here's one for $41.49 plus tax, free ship. Cheaper than Cowles website.

I just checked my records, and I show using 5/16". I remember buying a kit sold for our cars from ebay, and it was too wide to sit properly in the grove of the bumper cover. My covers were blasted clean of paint before I painted them, so no excess paint in the grove.

This is killing me.

Alright, be back soon.
