Cutlass Drag Car 85 442

Realistically, the most important aspect ov the ET is the 60 foot/hook. More power does help the trap mph but not so much the ET ifn ya cain't put it down/to good use. Generally, what you gain in the 60 will be approximately doubled in the ET. Ifn one could trim the 60 from 2.1 to 1.7 that's ruffly a w h o l e second reduction at the top end.

When, and how often .................
I live just outside of Tampa so I try to get to Showtime or Bradenton and race as often as I can.

My Cutlass is currently apart for front suspension/brake upgrades, but once its back together, I am going to see how the upgrades help!

I've never heard of showtime. Where is it located? I just got the front clip back on and also finishing up rewiring.

Showtime speedway, it’s an 1/8th track in Clearwater. Let’s meet up sometime!

Well. Spring is her And so is racing season. I put on the Vortec heads and some 1.6 rocker arms. I also had a nice high rise intake sitting around. Took it to the track and dropped off by over 5 tenths!!! Pretty disappointing. Was really lazy until about 150 feet out then it picked up.
Well turns out that the intake was way too much. 3500-8000 rpm range. The previous setup was setup for 1500-6500 and worked good.
I ordered a new intake rated for 15-6500 will launch at 1800-2000 and hopefully will see some improvement
I also spent the day engineering dual electric fans from a 2005ish Malibu. Excited to see what the weekend brings

I took er out to the track and ran 14.13 @ 97.5 mph in the 1/4 and 8.85@80 in the 1/8. There is some tuning needed because the 60’ times are still too slow. I should be under 2.0, not 2.07! And there’s a stumble on launch that wasn’t there last season.
The best news is that those are my best numbers to date. I should crack 13.90’s at Maple Grove next month

Been going to the track pretty much every Sunday now. We have been rewarded with some Quickest and Fastest runs
The Vortec heads have made some improvements. However, i am not too happy with the rocker arms. one of the tips has a problem with the pin walking out, and one of these days, i am going to lose it.
I tries to stake the shaft in place so it won't walk out.
The New intake Manifold brought it back into a useable rpm range, and it's running much better!
Swapped out the 670 Street avenger for a 750 double pumper. picked up another tenth.
Put it on a Chassis Dyno, and it was pulling 280 HP at the rear wheels
Best runs to date are 8.41 1/8th at 83 mph.
Even managed to get into the semifinals and get paid! And took home a trophy another weekend.

Came home today with a brand new Derale trans cooler with fan for $50 I might save that for another project though

I scored a set of Jegs Wheels with some 255- 60- 15 Drag Radials and put them on the car. pretty consistent 1.97, 1.98 60' runs a consistent 8.50's in hot humid Pennsylvania air. I have managed to get it into the mid 13's and edging 100-101 mph. the exhaust has been heavily modified, and i also had to swap oil pans . otherwise. just racing and having a good time even got into the money the past two weekends. here is my best overall timeslip to date and race day at Maple Grove sporting a set of Centerline Convo Pro's, and some Mid 13's at 100+
