yeah, the night shades worked pretty good, if i were to do it again, i might try the actually tint.

are you gonna do a mopar style hood scoop?

You mean somethin like this?:

It'll be similar but without the partition in the middle of the opening, and won't be molded into the hood, it'll just be a quick cheap job

I liked how the niteshades turned out, but I have a feeling my headlights will look purple, but I won't be driving at night for another year anyway because of inspection

The big plus with paint is it doesn't bubble like the film.

yeah i was worried the tint would kinda peel towards the edges.

and yes thats the kinda hood scoop i was talking about, i liked those ones from the seventies that looked like they were home jobs but came factory like that.

here's a mock up of the work to do tomorrow:

The aluminum braces behind the mesh will be flat black, and the mesh itself will be high gloss to match the headlight covers. This whole thing is going to be painted black... the progress is slow though

In a few weeks, I'll make a fiberglass panel underneath the mesh... from the bumper cover back toward the radiator, so you don't see the old brackets, top of bumper, and other junk in there.

Also going to try and find a solvent to dissolve fiberglass resin at the lab, I've got it all over the front header panel and the rear trunk lid

grille is mounted, still need to make some sturdy brackets to bolt in behind it and paint this weekend

That's why you don't use the car as a mixing table!

ahah 🙂

I didn't care though cuz the paint was f**ked anyway and the whole thing's gunna be sanded down. Most of it's on the hood which I can't sell for more than 5$ anymore, and the trunk lid... that I might actually keep but am also looking at a fiberglass one

day 1 of sanding

different, can't wait to see what the finished product looks like

lol ya it doesn't look like much now, but the plan is to have it looking nice. those long line across the plastic bumper that you see that are dark (where the old trim was taken out) are going to be filled in with plastic filler. The whole thing, including mesh, is going to be some version of gloss black. I've decided to use a wood template instead of foam to make the fiberglass extension back toward the radiator... that way it'll last longer when it's taken out and put back in.

I think it'll have a different look to it, I'm also going to install one of these (I think this winter) to tie the look together:
