for all the things that could've gone wrong, it turned out pretty good. Now I'll let it set and do the one (quarter panel) side of the trim tomorrow and the other side the next day. Then it's time for more sanding :wax:

are you just using resin?

Ya just resin, I've put a few layers of cloth on the back (didn't take a pic) to make it a little stronger than the stock plastic brackets they have holding it in. Hopefully that will take care of any flex that the rubber bumper might have in the future, these things sag real bad over time...just filling those trim parts with resin = cracks without extra support

Another day of sanding:

I need to get this thing ready for the lower fe3x air dam I'll be ordering next week.

I've decided to cut out the headlights and assembly entirely and chunk them. I'll keep the plexi covers but silicone them in place so they'll be fixed (no screws/bolts), then fill the edges and smooth it out with filler. I'll be priming and painting the plexi with the rest of the header. Headlights will be some sort of cheap aftermarket bolt on mounted behind the grill (yes they'll be SAE approved low beams). I'll also fill and smooth the top of the header where the hood ornament was.

Then I need to fix that nasty gap in the lower grill bracket, and strengthen the whole thing (the entire grill/bracket is just temporarily held on there).

After that, it's time to take the lower bumper cover back off and strengthen up the old rubber, especially under the headlights where its sagging, and in the middle where the support was cut out. Then I'll be making a wood template that goes back toward the radiator so you cant see that ugly bumper/radiator/core support. The template will covered in fiberglass and smoothed to match the bumper cover.

Still need to attack the resin filled trim areas with a dremel, and fill them to make it look nice.

When all thats done I'll spray some primer on the whole mess

siliconed in the plexi and made a template. Decided to use foam instead of wood:
