Actually, my parents live in a very Nazi HOA community about 4 miles from me. They were in a hurry one day, and put the garbage can by the garage door instead of in the garage. The next day, they had a letter in their mailbox with a picture of their garbage can stating they were in violation. 24 hours of a garbage can out of place? They have also told me which car I can and cannot drive to their house for fear of what others may say. In that case I said that I guess you really don't want to see me that bad after all!

And umm...yeah..... I gotta go cut the grass tomorrow.
(PS: I have one of the nicer yards on my block as I keep the grass good with the right fertilizer, etc. It's one of those lawns that looks like it is perfectly carved out of the earth as it is edged with vigor! I just chose to spend my time on the Cutlass for the last month, and have put off everything else in life because of it.)

Another thing: Gated Communities are USELESS!!!! I have gate codes for about 20 communities I do not live in, so I can come and go at will. Anyone want some? 😀 Also, if you want in, here's a tip: Park in front of the gate so that no one can pass. Someone will let you in with their remote.

Yet another HOA community story: One of the local PITA HOA communities has an odd arrangement whereby they do not actually own the land their houses are on. It's like a 99 year lease from the city. Also, they have street parking for all, and roads so narrow you can barely fit 2 cars. Additionally, it is such a labyrinth that it takes 10 minutes to get to the rear, and they have roundabouts at every intersection to further slow you down. 20mph speed limit? Sure, then I take very long on a delivery for my $1 tipping upper middle class SOB and miss the $5 tip in the white trash trailer park.

The city I deliver pizza in doesnt have many gated communities. The only one I have been in so far had the entrance gate open at all times and had the exit gate closed, and it opened when you pulled up to the gate. I would think of that being more of an inconvienience, not security.

I have heard some pretty crazy rules as far as, no cars allowed in the driveway past 9:00 p.m. What, are people only allowed to have two to three cars? What are you supposed to do if you have more cars than your garage can fit?

Man, they would freak if they saw your cutlass. A multicolored hoodlems car driving slowly looking for the right house.

Fortunately, I don't drive the Cutlass as a delivery car anymore. I have something far more anonymous for that purpose. My place of employment also does not have us wear car top signs either. A savings in fuel economy, embarrassment, complaint calls, and tickets...lol. Where I work, I won't tell...

A beat up early to mid 80s van? with no windows!!!

Something far more economical, and bland. A small white pickup truck from the 90's.
