I haven't taken apart a Malibu/El Camino dash so I can't help you there. But I'm sure someone will chime in for that.
as soon as you pull the gauge cluster off there is a printed circuit board with about a 20 wire harness going into the back of it that unclips from the dash and from there you can track it down and rip it out. if something was wrong with that then your gauges wouldent work right. everything but the spedo would be messed upCrapple21 said:where is that located at?

the lights on the heater working tells you its not the switch. anything weird happening with the lights? maybe its a bad ground. i put the wrong bulbs in my taillights and when i hut the brakes my parking lights would come onCrapple21 said:I'm thinking it might be maybe a loose wire or something because almost every night if I hit the same bump on the freeway they will turn on but only 50% of the time then they will stay on the rest of the way and if I turn my lights on then off they come on but if I turn them off and leave it for over a half an hour they won't come back on. I will also note that my lights to my heater and stuff work perfectly
