is your drivetrain matched or did u just slap some parts together? could also be the carb to. im running a 750dp on a ford small block. first time i ran it i had a very bad 60 foot. motor was just falling on its face till the rpms picked up. it was the carb way to rich. had to change my primary and secondary jets and adjust my squirts a few turns. once i got it down i had 1.7 60 foot..krazykyle said:why does my car fall short getting out of the hole.i'm running 456 gears a 10 inch convertor 750 double pump carb.i have to double feet it to get the rpms up and then it's not to bad.i want to be able the mash the gas and rip it up.wtf.
u can always let a speed shop do it but since your drag racing it would make more sense to learn to do it ur self, its not very hard. and it would be better for u to do it at the track so that way u can set it up for the launch and so that way u dont lean out while ur goin thru the traps. invest in a jet kit. and some reusable gaskets. also u might have to experiment with different pump cams to get the right shot off the line.CamaroAdam73 said:Yeah start with the carb, if you have to get some help from a speed shop getting it properly tuned to what your motor is asking for.
u can change the size on the squirters? i need to get some bigger ones then. i always just give it a few adjustments on the accelerator pump arm. and i have only played with changing the accelerator pump cams once but it made a big difference at the track for my launches.M.Bailey said:There is a possibility that its running out of fuel. Your primary squiter could be so small. Since it wont take right off idle it sounds more like a primary problem than secondary.
i was lookin for some to order all i can find are the squirters in .025. where do u guys buy bigger squirters from. i was lookin on jegs site.JBreu said:Yup, you can change the squirters........very easy to do as well. Make sure your flaots are adjusted to the right level cuz if it's getting more fuel then it should, that could cause your problem.
