here is my stock 83 Z28 dual snorkel along with a custom built one which I bought a long time ago from a member here:

You made a real nice copy of the duel snorkel. It must have taken you some time and I hope you have sold a few. I like the stock one with the flap so the car will warm up quicker and it'll have better driveabilty when cold. Carbs are never set up to run a cold engine

Thanks! but I didn't build the custom one lol! my bad if I put that across I bought it from member here years back just never got to building anything to install it on. If I do buy a Malibu maybe a big block with a quadrajet...

I had a friend of mine fabricate a dual snorkel air cleaner for me years ago. The hot air tube of the F body air cleaner is on the opposite side to the G body air cleaner, so I had him fabricate mine so that the hot air tube came up on the proper side. I had him shorten up the snorkel on the driver's side a bit, so there is more room for the tube to the air intake on that side. I had to go back to a single snorkel setup when I installed the F body serpentine belt setup, because of the A.I.R. plumbing. I'm keeping the dual snorkel setup for a future project.

no, that was my mistake, "along with a custom built one which I bought a long time ago from a member here"....I have to remember to read the whole thing....

no worries pontiacgp!! hopefully I can put it to use sometime soon!

that duel snorkel has changed my air/fuel ratio. It draws in more air than the open element I had and at cruising it runs lean. It runs a little rich at idle so I'll be dropping a couple of numbers on my main rods.

The proper vacuum calibrated spring under the power valve will fix the rich idle problem.

I'm trying out different rods. The mains I have now are 53. I had to richen up my idle to get the right mixture cruising. With the open element I was going to a 55 but now with this air cleaner I'm going other way to a richer main cause if I lean out the idle to get 14.7 at idle I'll be at over 16 with the rod in the carb now

If ya get yer cruse ratio where ya want it by changing yer rods yer gonna be way rich at idle. U will have ta open up yer idle air bleeds up a lil.
