Dealership caught trashing customers car

I have fired people for doing less, to customers cars. We would repair that Camaro at no charge to the Customer,Give him a free rental car, I have even Charged the Guilty party for the damaged parts, Via payroll deduction from their last check.
I have even in one case called the police and filed criminal vandalism charges against Two idiots for a similar stunt.
We never put up with that kind of behaviour, Our dealership had a policy that if a employee damaged any car while on the job,(subject to Management review) or got caught speeding they were subject to termination.

Since they also tried to rip off GM I'd like to see GM make an example out of them, replace the car and charge the dealer retail price that they pay or loose their dealership. For the abused car auction it off and give the proceeds to a charity

I would for sure like to see the two dip sh*ts who took it for a joy ride fired.I cannot stand people abusing others possessions. Now since these guys are certified does that mean they have to be state certified? Maybe it would be possible to suspend somebodies certification based off of them abusing a customers vehicle and their conspiracy to commit fraud.

I have had a couple bad experiences with local tire places. One was walmart so no surprise there and one was a privately owned shop. Walmart broke the lug nut cover on my 95 k1500 and attempted to hide the fact. I was standing in the shop and saw it happen but wanted to see if the tech would write it up as broken prior, not broken, or admit to his mistake. He pulled the truck out and jammed the plastic lug nut in the wheel cover. :blam: I complained of course to management. They told me to go buy the part and they would reimburse me. I bought a used one from a junk yard for 20 bucks. The manager bitched, told me that was too much, I asked if he would like me to go get a new one from GM. I happened to have the quote with me and a new one was over a 100 bucks. I asked would the tech be punished. He said no, everybody makes mistakes. The guy tried hiding his **** up. Whatever.

The second bad experience was at a local shop that I worked a few blocks from. Dropped my 95 formula off for 4 new tires, thats it. I left it with 3/8 tank of gas and recorded the mileage by taking a pic with my cell phone. I told the shop I would be back at the end of the work day for it. I showed up, 4 new tires mounted, 7 miles put on the car and less than an 1/8th of a tank of gas. So of course I went back into to ask why my car had 7 miles put on it. The service writer told me they didn't drive it. I showed him my odometer pic on my phone. He went and talked to the tech who did the work. The tech told him since my car wasn't supposed to have 17's on it with 275/40/17's that he wanted to ensure it drove fine before he let it out of there. WTF the car came in with the same rim and tire size they put on. I understand stock it came with a 16in wheel and smaller tires but it has had these 17's with 275's ever since I owned it. Neither of them could explain almost a 1/4 tank of gas being consumed in those 7 miles either. I was irate. Service writer told me they would give me a free oil change or give me 10 percent off my next tire purchase. I told them I would never come back and thankfully they went out of business about 3 months later. I had heard horror stories about the place before but I figured how can they mess up tires?

This makes me nervous about taking my Monte in for an alignment

make sure the place you take it to knows that the toe, caster and camber adjustments are required for these cars. Most place just do the toe on the newer vehicles cause that is al that is required and they rip them off for the full alignment. It took me 3 places before I found a shop that could do the proper job and the first two were recommendations by other repair shops who don't do alignments.

Yea, honestly if the guy who broke my wheel cover would have just said hey man I broke this, this is how I broke it I probably would of just said not a problem don't worry about it. Instead he got all defensive when I politely asked him how he broke it. He told me he couldn't find me but he was going to tell me. Oh so thats why you shoved the broken plastic lug nut cover in the wheel cover and tried covering it up. It is just a truck. I am not over protective of my vehicles. I let people drive them, I let people flog them a little too. I really don't care. sh*t happens and I have worked in tire and oil shops before. I have broke sh*t on accident before. I always fessed up and told the customer and sometimes they said dont worry about it, other times they were pissed. Either way I was man enough to admit what I did and I expect others to do the same.

Opening up the walmart can of worms though haha. Never will I take anything there again, ever. My local walmart has some of the most untrained and dishonest people working in the automotive section. Every time I took something in there it came out with a broken part. I started just putting my car on stands in the drive way and carried the wheels in when I needed tires. They would find a way to screw that up too. :blam:

But you can't expect much for what they pay them. I expect integrity that is it. They can make mistakes just damn, fess up.
