just read an update, car has been purchased back by the stealership for slightly higher than value... nothing said about firing the scumbag mechanics though.....

Fire the mechanic? Whoaa man. Of course not. It's one close knit family don't you know. The "appropriate" way they want to handle the situation is to pretend to be sympathetic (ie. give to charity), then get everyone to go away and hide all the evidence (take down the video).

No one was fired.

Dealership: Best Chevrolet-Kia in Easley, S.C.
Service Manager: Joshua C Looper (Josh)
<------still works there!

I am glad to hear an arrangement was worked out. I hope the mechanics involved are fired though. Give them a couple months to shake of the embarrassment and they will be back to beating on cars again.

every time I get lazy and have brought my car to a shop I usually end up thanking them for reminding me why I don't bring my car to a shop...and then kick myself for getting lazy
x2

Yeah i know 😳 Now i do everything i can myself... Or at least give it a try!

Guys if you listen to the video again you'll notice several accounts of each guy on the recording saying how they have done this and that to other customer cars. one guy says he did a donut with that one guys car, etc, etc... Obviously from every word in the recording they have absolutely NO regard for ANY customer and none for GM either, conspiring to commit fraud. How many other customer's cars have they trashed? How many other customer's have they ripped off? How many other times have these people committed fraud? And because no one was fired, how many other innocent victimes are going to be prone to these *ssh*les? The fact that GM heard the video and they are still allowed to run shop -- goes to show even General Motors doesn't give a damn about people either. It really sickens me.

I agree man. I think all directly involved should be looking for work right now. You do not treat someones property like that. Openly beating the sh*t out of a customers car and then talking about committing fraud??? WTF? I have seen people fired for way less than that. It boggles my mind why some mechanics think that they not only work on cars for a living but think they can performance test them as well. If you like performance vehicles go buy one. You work at a dealer I am sure you can get a decent deal on one. :blam:

didnt watch the vid but i get the jist of the story and the part about tryin to over charge/falsly charge the customer and charge the dealer for labor for uneccasery repairs doesnt surprise me at all. I worked at a dealer in Clinton Township,Mi. Jim Causley Pontiac GMC now Pontiac Buick,to be exact, and i saw the dealer be charged for unneeded repairs all the time. I worked there as a tech helper,or should i say the only guy in the place ALLOWED to do an oil change according to the prick i worked for. Anyway.... the "tech" and i use the word very loosly, "earned" half his hours every week by doin false warranty work. Depending on what the vehicle was it would always get the same part. Envoy=fan clutch,Grand Am or Grand Prix=vapor sensor,G6=any one of 5 or 6 dif repairs whatever was the easiest for the most hours. it was ****in rediculous. If a car came in with check engine lite cuz the gas cap was loose was his fave cuz then he could make up what ever. Andhe realy didnt give a sh*t if it actually fixed the car cuz then the sh*t would come back and he could throw another warranty part at it. And dont get me started on over chargin payin customers...3 hours labor for a tailshaft seal that took me 15-20 min is just one of a hundred examples i witnessed in the 2 1/2 years i worked for this slave drivin jackass. The stupid part was the ****in manager and service manager knew about this sh*t and didnt say a damn thing. the whole time i just kept thinkin its no surprise a new car is ****in 25-35 G's with bullshit like this going on. i hated it to be honest and have no regrets about leavin that ****in place.
