I have. It'll push a G body well into the 10s. Chuck Powell in Ohio has a very nice Cutlass with a 440 SBO.I'd say just the mostly (if not all, it is Texas after all) rust free body and block are worth the 1200 bucks. The block can be made into a 434+ cubic inch stroker with an olds 425 crank and BBC rods. I'd read that 440 is possible, but I've never seen it done.
I'd rather have a BBC, SBC or LS. Maybe even a Pontiac 400. I don't care for some of the architecture of the Olds engine like having the starter on the driver's side, the aluminum rocker pedestals or 'bridges' and the stamped steel intake gasket or 'valley pan'. I've had some bad experiences with the valley pan and the rocker pedestals. Why not? Olds engines (aside from the diesels) are pretty damn good all things considered. Plus the olds 350 is a direct swap.
Pontiac would be cool. I like the top end swapability from the 326 to the 455. But in the end, whoever ends up with it it's their decision.I'd rather have a BBC, SBC or LS. Maybe even a Pontiac 400. An Olds. engine is cool. It's just not for me.
you guys are missing the big pic... #1, it's a Grand Prix, #2 hello, it's a DIESEL block!
only thing that really scares me away is: how bad is the roof under that dried out vynil? I'm already dealing with the aftermath of one....
