do bigger MM plug wires actually help?

Be aware too that the quality of the wire is also a determining factor-most aftermarket plug wires have copper conductor wire which is manufactured overseas....where quality control is lacking and to help keep costs down, materials such as tin is added which doesn't take to heat well and embrittles the wire overall.

Tin?, seen the price of tin lately?. More likely lead (illegal in the European Union).
What is the car to be used for?, unless it's for high performance like the strip or track oem quality wires is all that's needed. Any thing else is a sledgehammer to crack a walnut.

The best thing you can do is bring along an ohn meter and test the wires you are considering. MANY brands will show very high resistance, the worst being ACCEL. I found the MSD spiral wound stainless wires to be very good. As stated, on a stock motor you'll never even notice, but you WILL notice solid racing wires- as static on your radio.

I wouldn't buy wires solely based on overall size,a quality known brand with less resistence per foot is what makes the difference and having RFI suppression.
The advantage of an overall large diameter wire is it is well insulated which is good.

x2, the sleeved Moroso Ultra 40 wire is what we use on all our race cars plus I use them on my GP. We tested the resistance on all major brand wire sets and they were inconsistent and none registered as low as the 40 ohms per foot of the Moroso wire

I bought the for my truck many years ago. The worked great so when I got the cutlass I didn't hesitate in buying them again

Don't put the bigger wires on a stock 307 I bought the wrong ones by mistake and my cutty didn't like it very much. It's just a waste of money unless you're putting the whole msd ignition setup or you have a 350 that is bored out or something

PS if a hotter spark is really that important to you than go with NGK spark plugs b/c they supposedly have higher spark, but just use the stock plug wires or you won't see a difference on a 307 hope this helps

I had a MSD Superconductor 8.5mm crack the #1 plug wire twice. They were 40-50 ohms per foot. I have the Accel 9000 8mm on the truck, around 500 ohm per foot. I have the Accel 25 ohm race wires, very well made and have 25 ohm per foot.

If it didn't like it you either bought the wrong wires or you screwed something up.

OK I see the sleeved Moroso Ultra 40 are very much likeed. What about the unsleevd ones? Couldn't you just buy some spark plug wire insulation and create the same affect? Secondly, How good are the Moroso BLue MAXX plug wires? Other than being about .6mm smaller than the Ultra 40? Are they well insulated or about th same as the unsleeved Moroso wires?

The sleeves on the Moroso 40 wires are for heat protection but they come with numbers on them to help you from crossing up the wires. I don't understand why you would consider buying the unsleeved and then sleeving them

Ok what bout da Moroso Blue MAXX? Any experiences?
