I'm thinking about just dropping in the 383 or 350 ... and getting another cutlass and drop in my low milage v6 and use it all year.

sounds like an idea, all g body, all the time. shouldn't be too hard to find a nice shape roller cutlass body for cheap.

Re: Dodge Challanger???

As someone who owns and drives it on the shittest streets known to man, Melville, Sk, your neighbour is an idiot. Our SE model will run circles around my Cutlass in the corners. No delay on the pedal, better than most rwd on our icy streets. Great heater too. Only issue has been the command start. If you lock the doors with fob in the car, it works most times. Everyone constantly tells my wife how nice the car is. These are people who vehicles that cost twice what we paid! That blind spot only is noticeable lane changing. Seats 5 comfortably and a nice big trunk. I have gotten between 21 mpg and 30+ mpg imperial. 21 was a lot of idiling in very cold weather. Guys with the 5.7 6 spd manual get between 30-34 US mpg highway. Try getting that with any G body.

Well, um... okay. i don't believe my neighbor would have any reason to lie to me about the delay on the pedal in his car, but if you insist . I'll be sure to tell him someone on the internet told me he is an idiot.

Re: Dodge Challanger???

Just saying, I know no car is perfect, maybe I have drove junk too long. One other complaint is the doors can freeze shut, I Armour All the seals, it helps. I haven't drove a ton of high performance cars, the Challenger does what I want. All my other cars and trucks are like tanks compared. Pretty sure my 3.5 still has an actual cable drive, maybe his is drive by wire? Remember, you going off what your neighbour said. I have actually drove this car quite a few miles, have you? Yes, I rarely drive the car. Know why? My wife loves the car, it is now "her" car. I get the Dakota with shitty heat. Good thing it is 4x4 or I might as well drive the Cutlass this winter.

Re: Dodge Challanger???

I have owned 3 3rd gen montes. I only drove 2 of em, and only the once each when I brought em home. They made quite an impression though, no other car/truck has ever compared. They're like greased clouds on the highway.

He said it has this couple second delay thing from the time you press the pedal to the time the car actually moves. I honestly like the way the car looks, but no way it worth all that for a good retro car.
I have heard of this in newer Chargers. Its an issue with the drive by wire system more than likely.

This is something on just about every new vehicle with drive by wire it seems.

My '08 GMC had this issue and coupled with the TON of torque management in the computer made for an absolute pig. They tell you it has 315HP but then don't let you use it. 🙁

An aftermarket tuner and custom tune in the ECM and PCM makes a world of difference though. 😉

Believe you're right. most cars I've drove that are '06 & up don't have a throttle cable, making them more sluggish off the line. The throttle set up is electronic, making it delayed. I prefer a throttle cable, but I guess they're obsolete. Makes them feel like pigs

Re: Dodge Challanger???

Ohhh I know what you mean ... My dads truck is the same way a 2012 5.3 GMC crewcab I ****en Pined the Go stick to the floor and it takes like 4 seconds to really get going... its a shame

Re: Dodge Challanger???

Don't buy a Challenger. They will soon become obsolete, get cancelled, and start migrating to the junkyard/ scrap yards by the hundreds and cost a dime a dozen used. A new replacement model is surely in development by now.
