Don't buy a Challenger. They will soon become obsolete, get cancelled, and start migrating to the junkyard/ scrap yards by the hundreds and cost a dime a dozen used. A new replacement model is surely in development by now.

Even if that statement is true ..which I belive to be true as well .. I still want one in the near future I just love the body style .. The reason for the challangers death is the new Barracuda that dodge wants to put on a new Alfa frame.... gay

Just saying, I know no car is perfect, maybe I have drove junk too long. One other complaint is the doors can freeze shut, I Armour All the seals, it helps. I haven't drove a ton of high performance cars, the Challenger does what I want. All my other cars and trucks are like tanks compared. Pretty sure my 3.5 still has an actual cable drive, maybe his is drive by wire? Remember, you going off what your neighbour said. I have actually drove this car quite a few miles, have you? Yes, I rarely drive the car. Know why? My wife loves the car, it is now "her" car. I get the Dakota with shitty heat. Good thing it is 4x4 or I might as well drive the Cutlass this winter.

I have not driven the car, however my neighbor is just as big a car nut as I am, and I do believe what he is saying . He grew up in a dodge family, raced them all his life, between his family, they have about 7 drag cars, all dodges. I think he knows what he is talking about. His car is drive by wire, so that could be the problem. I know that all drive by wire cars have a little bit of a delay, (my daily driver kia does too), but not nearly what he is describing.

How is that gay? European cars have always been miles ahead of American cars especially in handling because unlike American designer they wanted more well-rounded cars that just big gas guzzling monsters. I think it's great they're putting their partner ships to good use so they can have cars that perform as good as they look.

If you want a new car that's a great plat forum then go with a Subaru BRZ they start off with 200 hp but have amazing acceleration and their suspension is hard to compete with. They were 1 second slower on a lap time than the v6 mustang even though it had significantly less power. They're light weight and can be endlessly modded for more power, style or handling. They also have the 4 cylinder boxer motors so the center of gravity and weight distribution is awesome. Plus they’re about ½ the price of a new challenger so you can have a nice cutlass with a 350 or whatever and a nice looking import that is fast, handles and gets good mpg.

I rode in one of my friends 09 RT challengers with the mufflers cut off and just the resonators. It isnt slow by any means, but lacked the feel of raw power. Had an aggressive factory tune in and for making 425hp or whatever it was it didnt seem as fast as I thought it should be. It sounded great and got moving but it was all so smooth and calm. At no point did it feel exciting or unleashed. Maybe thats the point of the car, I dont know.

I raced an SRT8 challenger at the track once and he barely beat my DD beater 97 supercharged firebird. He was running low 14's.

I think they are nice, but Id take a V6 mustang and put on a turbo/procharger any day.

Ohhh I know what you mean ... My dads truck is the same way a 2012 5.3 GMC crewcab I ****en Pined the Go stick to the floor and it takes like 4 seconds to really get going... its a shame

Yep. They have written the programming in the computer to sense if you snap the throttle open too quickly. It pulls a TON of timing out of the engine and reduces engine power. They also reduce engine power at each upshift to lessen the strain on the driveline.

Try saying 'Hippopotamus' as you press the gas pedal (reaching the floor just at the end of the word) it will accelerate faster than if you just stomp it.

I believe this is why GM offers their 5year/100,000 mile drivetrain warranty. Instead of making sure the driveline is up to the task, they just kill the power from the engine to get it to last.

Re: Dodge Challanger???

Well ... I have never been a fan of european or japanese metal .... I'd much rather a fully American car mabey thats why I'm drawn into old style cars so much ... 0 Areo dynamics full Raw Cubic inches to move fast haha thats what its all about.. I'm not to concernd with gas millage anymore becuase at the end of the day mabey its 1000 extra dollars just to stay true to what I love.

Not sayin that you are not staying true I'm sure you love imports for along time. I just could never let myself get into one. It wouldnt feel rite at 6 foot 6 I'm really tall and I need a big car with a big engine and rite now my Cutlass is just a big car

Sounds like you know exactly what needs to be done next.

Considering the Challenger has a Mercedes trans and suspension, pretty European. That guy must of had no traction to run 14's. Guys run low 13's with the R/T. With bolt on and drag radials mid-high 12's. New SRT's are in the 12's. Whatever the Camaro runs, who cares? Looks dam ugly doing it, that is for sure.

To buy either one of these cars is a crappy financial decision right now. If I were looking to buy a challenger/camaro I would buy a bad example that was in a wreck and fix it up. Think of it this way, if I have 10-15k$ to spend on a car I want access to the aftermarket parts - I don't want to get the car home and not have any money left to buy an air intake, supercharger, new chip or w/e... I could easily finagle my way into owning one of these cars on payments but I just never would do that. I just beat a stock Charger in my brothers stock Fusion Sport the other day - and the engine was still hot from from the Lexus I just finished raping before that. W/o the ability to afford the after market parts, a Charger/Challenger/Camaro is just another car on the road that can barely reach 60 mph a fraction of a second sooner than any other crappy midsize / lux import
