What color and condition are your strips?
 
you can use Denatured Alcohol...won't harm paint...i think acetone is way to hot to use
 
sorry... the quick clean is in an aerosol
 
sorry for not replying, haven't checked this in a while

the strips are silver with a black stripe. they're in pretty bad shape. the black stripe is cracked and faded over every strip, and there's plastic wrapping coming off of the silver part.

well I picked up a can of 3m's "adhesive and wax remover" i haven't had the time to use it yet, i'm hoping for a warmer day here. i'll let you know how it goes.
 
well, I finally got a chance to use this stuff, and it's like magic! After letting it soak in, the goo came off so easily. there were a couple spots where i could see where the paint stuck to the goo, and i could see the primer, but I think with a little polish it'll all be good.
