Yesterday my daughter tried to put up the passenger window in her '82 Elky. It went up, but is tipped way in at the top and won't hit the weatherstrip groove. It also slides forward and backward in the door. What should I be expecting to find before I tear into it? I have a Fisher Body service manual, but it has no troubleshooting tips. Thanks!

Sounds like the window jumped off the track. I guess you won't know the cause until you remove the door panel.
Is it manual or power? In either case, I'm assuming one side of the track became loose and the window dislodged.
It should be an easy fix.

x2! It seems like this is pretty common.

The nylon roller in the vertical channel was worn out and it jumped out of the track. Once I eyeballed it, it was apparent how to fix it. A package of 3 from the HELP section at O'Reillys and an hours time had it going again. I also cleaned and greased everything and it works better than ever. I had some time, so I went around and did the ohter side as well and made a small adjustment to the glass to help it seal better.
