Ok, as I have been posting a lot to find stuff out ( have been searching first!!) I got another supprise.

I went to put in the speedo gears and found that with the suspension at full droop, the drive shaft is only out 1/4 inch of yoke out from the transmission. (if ythere is that much)

That means with the car on the ground there is like zero space.

So with a 350/305 and a 700r4 with the stock trans mount that was wiped out what drive shaft should be in it?

IS there a stock I can get?

Having a hard time understanding. Can you post a pic? I am thinking you are saying the driveshaft is barely on the output shaft of the transmission. Am I right in what your saying?

There were only 2 driveshafts for the G bodys tham I'm aware of. There were driveshafts for the elcamino & wagon (long) and passenger cars (short). The problem may be caused the trans. To my knowledge, the 700 R4 was not a factory installed trans in the G body. You may need to shorten the driveshaft

I am sure that the 700 conversion is what is causing the linksys problem .
I was just hoping that someone would say hey get a drive shaft from a blank and it will fit.

The driveshaft you have needs to be shortened 3 inches. A transmission / driveshaft shop will do it for around 80 bucks.

if you do need to get it shortened depending on the shape of your current tube you might want to ask how much it would be for a new tube. I got mine cut and didn't think of asking but after the fact I found out it would have only cost me the price of the tube plus one extra weld. The price of the tube isn't much...

A driveshaft shortening shop will give you a chart and then you measure the ujoint from the center at one end and the center at the other and then you let them know the length you want. They will then shorten it and then balance it..The 700R4 driveshaft length will work with the T5 as well

700r4s usually had the long nose at the end the 200r4 and th350 usually have the short nose, if you have a short nose 700r4 you have a rare trans haha
