i took plenty of pics to know how they go back together but the first step has me on hold. :blam:

how do i get the bracket back on to the parking brake cable? i think i just need a buddy to come over to help because i can get that spring to back off the end of the cable but i dont have a third hand to get the bracket on the cable haha.

i guess thats what ill do unless there is a trick to it.

I hold the end of the cable with vice grips then pull the spring with pin nose vice grips on the cable and locking the pin nose vice grips on the cable holding the spring back then slide the cable in place...don't clamp down on the cable too hard with the pin nose so you don't damage the cable....

the right way to do it is to release the cables from the adjuster to give you slack in the cables but that adjustment is usually rusted pretty good and it's not something that will come apart too easily

Another reason I always slather anti-seize all over the adjuster and nut.

if only i had a set of pin nose grips now

thanks!

you can always try to get the cable partly in and then pull the spring back....your not trying to do this with the adjuster arm already installed are you?..and yes antiseize makes life much more enjoyable and cuts down on 4 letter words..

I do this, except I put a screwdriver handle between the pliers, and then use the handle as a squeezing point and then slip the little bracket on there.

got one side done, the the spring on the other side is heavier and i cant get it by myself since im using pliers instead of vice grips. got one of the guys comin over tomorrow to give me a hand and then the diff swap is done besides bleeding brakes.

the second side isn't heavier....you just used up all your strength on the first side...

 it was probably that i drank too much by the time i got to the other side
