My 260 v8 Cutlass wont idle on its own without feathering the throttle. I Blame the Carburetor, the idle mixtures screws dont seem to be working when I turn them in or out. The wires to the Idle stop solenoid are rough, exposed, and looks like they could be replaced. I didnt because I didnt know for sure if it was the perp causing this or not. Carburetors arent my strong suit. Any Solutions, ideas, or tips will greatly appreciated.

Exactly why I don't like Dualjets and Quadrajets. My personal opinions would be to....
A. Go to a local junkyard/parts pulling yard and get another dualjet for a cheap price. (Make sure you can hear it pump.)
B. Get a 4 barrel intake and throw a quadrajet on it. (Personal opinion. I love 4 barrels.)

It just sounds like the carb may be bad or going bad.

On those wires however, I would go ahead and replace them but have a Chiltons or Haynes book close by for the wiring diagrams.

Good luck!

You aren't suppose to adjust the idle with the mixture screws on D jets and Q jets, you should be adjusting the idle air bleed valve.
