i was wondering who has played around with the sem products? i have a pain in the neck color for my car Briar Brown only made for 2 years. which i love because its not common but tracking seat upholstery is even harder. so I'm thinking of using SEM dye but they don't make a Briar Brown. what i have found that looks somewhat close is SEM 15023, Cordovan Brown. has anyone used this color before in place of the briar brown or do someone else make a dye that is Briar brown. i only have the rear seat bottom to color and its current color is dark blue.

Here's the PPG formula codes for your 67 Dark Brair Brown ('83-'84). For semi-gloss it's 25172, low-gloss it's 25229. Since it seems that PPG owns SEM there shouldn't be an issue cross the codes. If needed in PPG it'll be in the One Choice line. Don't forget to get a copy of the product sheet (P-sheet) which will explain how to apply on each different surface along with the required products.

If you want a close to exact match send a piece of trim like an A pillar to a company called Vinyl Pro. SEM used to do custom color matching but once PPG took them over that stopped. They actually got rid of the woman that used to do it. She matched a few colors for me and she was amazing.
Last Fall I needed to have some Color Coat matched to the color of my new vinyl siding so I could spray a bunch of mounting blocks. I spoke to Dave at SEM and he gave me the info about Vinyl Pro. Theyre in GA. The name of the guy that does the color matching is Scott. They have the exact same camera system that SEM uses to get a close color. Then they tweak it from there. I would use them again. Scott got a pretty close match. The right gloss too.
The lighting and shadows make it look a little off but I think its close to 100%.

If I remember correctly they charge $35 for the matching service. SEM was free but if you want super close I'd use them. I had the sample and the Color Coat in less than a week and Im in NY so from GA that isnt a bad turn around time.

any auto paint store can match the color you will need a paint gun .its good for hard plastic parts ..when you say seat bottom i hope you are not talking about the part you sit on it;s to flexable
