Looking at 2" Cowl hoods for a Malibu.
Looks like Goodmark is the cream of the crop for steel hoods.
Anyone ever see or here anything good or bad about hoods made by Ecklers Chevelle?
Look to be about half the price of the Goodmark.
Yes I know you get what you pay for, but sometimes the quality is the same on cheaper parts.

Getting ready to pull the trigger on a hood.
Nobody has seen or heard good or bad regarding hoods from Ecklers?

No experience with the one from ecklers, but I would imagine it may be a good mark one or sherman. I think most of them are probably stamped by one or two manufacturers and just a brand put on them. Some may be better than others, not sure. But all may be golden legion etc. I hear amd makes good sheet metal but I have no experience personally or if they make a g body malibu hood. Maybe someone else knows better than me. Mine is fiberglass and fits ok.

At that price it's possibly an AMD. The AMD panels have pretty good reviews on other car models, many mentioned that the steel was heavier gauge than the usual aftermarket hoods. Goodmark, as far as I have been able to discern, is a reboxed import stamping from the usual Asian suppliers (Golden Star, Gordon, Golden Legion, to name a few). I know a lot of people think Goodmark is a manufacturer, they are a reseller, just like Eckler's and all the other vendors. Goodmark got a lot of exposure in the hobby, I believe they were one of the first to go through the GM Restoration Parts licensing program for sheetmetal

I don't think there are any US/Canadian stamped hoods for our cars, and that's the case for most replacement panels. The key is finding the best of the available choices.

Thanks for the help. Snooping around I have seen others say similar things about the AMD hoods.
Looks like thats the way to go.......shipping costs smfh!
VFN is literally 20 minutes from my house, but have no desire to go fiberglass, been there and done that.
My old Charger is actually on VFN's website as I was the 1st to buy a Challenger hood for the Charger from them.

Well I just scored a pretty good deal. Found a local company on Ebay selling the AMD hood for like $450ish which included free shipping.
Called them up and asked if they would price match Summit minus the shipping as I could pick up.
They price matched and I have to pay sales tax.

Nicely done!

Don't want to hijack a thread (does look like the OP got his), but .... What brand is yours? I've read where people with some brand(s) had to trim the edge at the windshield end, supposedly they were designed that way.

Not sure the brand. Was on car when I bought it. Doesn't look like anyone did any trimming on it though. I will look to see if it has a name brand on it somewhere though and let you know.

Wagons and sedans usually require a close look at the rear of the scoop, as the windshield is not laid back as far as it is on the coupes/Caminos...they have been known to contact the windshield
