Edelbrock 1406 Turd (re)Build

Well, it works. Idles pretty good, but I forgot my vacuum gauge to adjust the idle mixture. Damned thing backfires through the secondaries when you go wide open throttle, though. I have no idea what that's all about. The truck might need plugs due to being fouled from it dumping fuel, and there are 2 vacuum hoses that I didn't replace. I'll give it my best shot at tuning next.

I think its more so luck of the draw with Edelbrock carbs. Ive had 2 that have worked great but have a few friends that have had nothing but issues with theirs out of the box. If you have one that works well its a decent street/cruise carb. Any of my race cars had Holley's

I sold a hell of alot of those 1406 edelbrocks back in.the 90s when i worked at NAPA. I remember when they first hit the market u could buy a brand new one with electric choke for 249.00. Manual choke 199.00. Crazy for a brand new performance carb.
