I have the Fast Efi 1.0 installed and I'm liking it so far. I wasn't planning to go this route but someone I knew from the circle track world made me an offer I could not refuse. It came with an inline pump so that is what I went with, I figured I'd do as cheap as possible until I figured out if I like it. I don't mind the noise of the pump when I turn the key on but I know electric fuel pumps do not like to pull and I have this one close to the tank but I'm wondering if I should go with an in tank pump. If I do go with an intank pump I will be cutting an access hole in the trunk floor.....what you guys/gals think?......

Outside for serviceability
In tank for quietness and convenience.
Access panel would help regaurdless. Every car should have one.

I have an inline pump in my EFI setup. I regret not going in tank honestly and it's on the agenda for this winter. GN tank and an Aeromotive Phantom pump is what im switching to.

I'm planning an EFI install this winter and will be running an in tank pump. Our cars are easy to drop the tank so I'd rather keep it in tank. Quiet and happier pump. That's my plan anyway.

It is easy if it is empty, I have 2 AN fittings that are in front of the tank so it's a 15 min job to drop it. The reason for an access door is so I don't have to crawl under the car after jacking it up and it doesn't matter how much fuel is in the tank

I run twin GN in tank 340’s from Racetronix in my 88 Cutlass with the factory baffled GN tank. Very quiet and they run cooler in tank.

My other Car (69 Cutlass) has an external pump and it makes more noise even with rubber isolators but it’s not horrible.

If you’re just driving on the weekends it may not bother you much but choosing between the two, i’d definitely go in tank.

What would be your downside ( if any ) to putting an intank on it?

I think external pumps are least reliable in hot areas, but I'd still say go in tank. Later model tank swaps are another option to throw in here. For the el camino I have an early 90's b-body wagon plastic tank (25 gal) to one day swap in place of my modified 83 diesel tank.
Aftermarket tank suppliers will admit that factories put a ton of money into research & oem tank setups can be better. Haven't personally seen the hydromat, but it sounds like a fair choice.
